Check of the print quality of the bar codes according to ISO-15416 and code content in printed cardboard with bar code scanners BARCODAT Nord GmbH has realized a barcode solution for quality assurance at Zaheer cardboard GmbH. Zaheer is a medium-sized manufacturer of cardboard boxes. These are multi-coloured printed part and equipped with bar codes. The bar code is the standard bar code 2/5 interleaved. Printing is carried out within the production of cardboard by flexographic printing.
Often, there were customer complaints about unreadable barcodes. Hand scanners were used to random control so far. In the framework of quality management, ISO 15416 was looking for a solution of the pressure quality control. The festmontierbare 2D/matrix scanner is used matrix-2000 by Datalogic Automation. The robust scanner (IP64) is a CCD reader designed for industrial applications. He reads and decodes all major linear and 2D codes, as well as stacked and post codes. The scanner combines image processing technology, Dekodier-and Transmission interface as well as an additional lighting system into a compact unit. The objects can run at a speed of up to 6 m/s at the scanner pass.
The matrix-2000 has an additional diagnostic software that allows reading quality, image exposure, code field indication and placement to check in real time and display. The code quality control according to the AIM *-standards. The bar code of the stack will be tested immediately in the outlet of the printing press in the run. The speed is 1 m/s. A carton of 20 stack is captured. The code is tested for compliance with the standard ISO-15416, linear barcodes, print quality. The result will be shown on a large screen. The quality drops below grade B a red signal light. The defective printed cartons can be sorted out, checked the production. In addition, the content of the printed code is compared with the job code. This is read as a reference code previously. The scanner can be on one Rail be moved horizontally, so that the position very quickly and easily can be adapted to the various types of carton. Through the use of the fixed scanner verifies the quality of the code during production. An additional manual check is eliminated. Time is saved. Workers will be free for other tasks. The additional comparison of the contents of the data leads to avoid incorrect retention and misdelivery. The quality cost has been reduced. Two issues be resolved with just a scanner. * AIM International Association for automatic identification, data collection and mobile data communication Uwe Renn, Barcodat GmbH
